Discover Valdichiana

Da un articolo di giornale uscito in questi giorni riporto un itinerario tra tradizione e religione. Il viaggio inizia a Sinalunga, uno dei comuni della Valdichiana senese più ricchi di arte religiosa e cultura. Dal convento dei Frati Minori dove, in una cappella del 1400, si trova un'opera sacra di gran valore e bellezza : La Madonna del Rifugio di Sano di Pietro. THE HISTORY This sacred icons was a gift  from the beatifide Pietro da Trequanda who brought it in Palestina with him self. The painting is venerated from the people of Valdichiana who give hope and prosperity to the sourrounding inhabitants. The convent of Frati Minori with the convent of San Bernardino are cared from a little group of Frati Minori from Poland. Se vi trovate nella piazza del Municipio di Castiglion Fiorentino, durante le belle giornate potete gustarvi uno splendido panorama sulla Valle di Chio VALLE DI CHIO It's a natural valley near to Valdichiana. It's a beautiful place for relax or walking into the nature. There are also interesting things to visit. One of this is Pieve dei Santi Ippolito e Cassiano: it has romans origin when was a termal place, during the middle age it became a monastic building. Pieve di Retina The second place you could appreciate is  Pieve di Chio which was mentioned in 1063 and was the principal church and consist on eleven other churches The third place are the remains of an ancient castle owned to the Tarlati family in the abandoned village Rocca Montanina  Castle of Montanina Eremo di San Lorenzo

Siena è una città toscana tra le più conosciute, infatti molti bus turistici la includono nei loro tour e ne fanno un punto fondamentale da non perdere per chi visita la Toscana in pochi giorni. Questo paese è un connubio di storia e cultura dei popoli che hanno vissuto la Valdichiana come gli etruschi, i romani e poi gli Ubaldini (nel 1300), progettata dal Vasari (da cui vengono aperte le mura medievali del '500). The Town Museum exhibits a collection of pottery and majolica from medieval age. This tradition is still an important feature of this town. The curch of Sant'Agostino has an interesting cycle of frescos by Spinello Aretino (XV century) and an "Assunzione"by Vasari. There is also a beautiful cloister renewed in 1500 by Andrea Contucci known as Sansovino with sculptures and and great architecture.

La Valdichiana è ricca di luoghi meravigliosi immersi nella storia e nella cultura di un territorio unico. CASTIGLION FIORENTINO The Archaeological Musem of this town is located on the top of the town in the court with the Cassero tower. To vist the museum you follow an impressive, underground route and visit an open dig. There is also an interesting Council  Gallery  with jewelery and paintings by Taddeo Gaddi, Bartolomeo della Gatta . The Pieve di San Giulano Museum is an other place to visit in Castiglion Fiorentino and it has frescos by Luca Signorelli and some works in terracotta from the Robbia  school

It has a little museum, there you can see works by Luca Signorelli and other authors. The tree of love The tree is a scultpure made of gold, it's a simbol for young lovers who ask happiness. FOIANO DELLA CHIANA This little village has an interesting collection of "Robbianesque": works from Andrea della Robbia, important artist from Arezzo which uses the terraccotta. Propongo una lista di Musei, luoghi al chiuso da visitare partendo anche da una calda estate. The etruscan valley is reach of history, art and cultural places to appreciate. CORTONA The visit start from one of the main etruscan cities. Here is the Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca (MAEC). It's  a very important museum for the etruscan history and the collections are amazing. The manufactes of the musem came from the nearby archaeological sites, like the etruscan tombs: Meloni I and II del Sodo date back to VI century B.C. There is also a Diocese Museum offers an art collection with important works by the great Luca Signorelli and Beato Angelico

Arezzo is the main city of one tuscan provinces. The history is very old from the ancestry, for example , talking about the archaeology there is an interesting and valuable collection into the Museum of Gaio Clinio Mecenate also because you can seen one of the most important roman architecture which is the Anfitheater (built in Adrian age). Arezzo was also an important medieval centre in Medieval Age, you can see it visiting the Basilical Church of San Francesco (historically it was the second most important church of the town), inside the building  there is also the masterpiece of the artist Piero della Francesca (borned in Arezzo).
